Tamra D. Johnson, age 51 of St. Peter, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Mayo Health System, Mankato.
Funeral Service will be 11:00am Monday, February 4, 2019 at Scandian Grove Lutheran Church with burial at the church cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 -5:00pm Sunday at St. Peter Funeral Home and also 10:00am Monday at church.
Tammy was born August 15, 1967 in Webster City IA to Harlan and Diane (Howell) Balsley. She was raised in Webster City and graduated from high school there. On September 24, 1988 she was united in marriage to Collin Johnson and they made their home in rural St. Peter. She worked as a bookkeeper for Duetsch Construction in New Prague and then at Farmers Elevator in Traverse. Tammy was active at Scandian Grove Lutheran as a church council member, Sunday school superintendent, VBS worker and on the lutefisk committee. She was also member of the knitting group Midwest Pistachios and the support group Empty Arms. She loved knitting, reading, coffee, having a glass of wine, and spending time with friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Collin; children: Lauran and Eric (Ally Blumhoefer); parents: Harlan Balsley and Diane (Carl) Pontius; brother, John (Janea); her extended family and Collin’s family. She was preceded in death by a son, Craig; her grandparents; mother-in-law, Hazel Johnson; sister-in-law, Barbara Saxton; and great nephew, Liam Appel.
