Krista Marie was born to Thomas and Jeanne Witty on April 10th, 1965 in Saint Peter, MN. She attended Saint Peter High School graduating in 1983. Krista loved learning throughout her whole life. She began her post high school education at Gustavus Adolphus College where she earned a degree in Political Science, followed by a degree in Public Administration from Minnesota State University Mankato. She was a lifelong learner. She learned from her colleagues, family, and friends. She would often be excited to tell people close to her about new articles she read or things she heard while listening to her favorite radio station, Minnesota Public Radio.
She made life long connections and helped many people through her job which was very dear to her heart. Her work colleagues were some of her best friends. She started her professional life working for the City of Saint Peter. She began working at the City of Mankato in 1992 and was presently the Director of Human Resources. She also provided human resources leadership for Blue Earth County. She was an active member in many organizations including the Minnesota Public Employer Labor Relations Association and the Southern Minnesota Area Human Resource Association. She poured her heart into her job every day.
Krista was united in marriage to Paul Amos on November 9th, 1996. Her beautiful daughter Anna was born on May 1st, 1999. Krista was a person who absolutely loved love. She always felt at her best when she was helping others or providing care for them. Whether it was giving back, talking to others about troubles in their lives, or showing her family how much she cared for them. She was always happiest when opening her heart to others. She believed in compassion for everyone and always finding the best in people. Her favorite times were when she was surrounded by friends and family. She loved giving her time to help in her daughter’s life by doing things like being a Girl Scout leader, organizing events for sports teams, and helping coordinate events like prom photos. She was a woman who wanted to change the world through positivity and those who saw her big, beaming smile knew she could do just that. Not only was she a wonderful friend and coworker, but also the best mother, wife, sister and daughter a family could ever have.
Krista will be dearly missed by her husband and best friend Paul, along with the light of her life, daughter Anna, her parents Tom and Jeanne Witty and her dear sister Sara. Others who loved her very much include her mother-in-law Eunice Amos, special aunt Susan Slettedal, and her beloved dog Seve. She will also be missed and remembered by numerous cousins, friends, and colleagues. Krista was preceded in death by her father-in-law Marley Amos, her paternal grandparents Tip and Hazel Witty, and her maternal grandparents Roger and Ruth Sletterdahl.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Anna’s college fund.
