Dixie Jean Parkhurst, age 83, of St. Peter, died Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter.
A memorial service celebrating Dixie’s life will be held Tuesday, December 19 at 6 p.m. at the St. Peter Funeral Home in St. Peter. Visitation will be one hour prior, beginning at 5 p.m. Please visit www.saintpeterfuneral.com to leave a memory of Dixie. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the activities program at the Benedictine Living Community or P.A.W.S. through the Kind Veterinary Clinic in St. Peter.
Dixie Jean Clover was born December 14, 1933 in Johnston, Iowa to Asa and Dorothy (McKinney) Clover. She graduated from Johnston High School in 1952, where she was a star basketball player. Dixie married Milton Duckett in 1952 and they later divorced. Dixie moved to Texas in 1972; she first lived in the Rio Grand Valley and then San Antonio. She returned to Minnesota in 2004. Dixie loved sports, especially darts and basketball. She was in the San Antonio Dart League, and she traveled many places both domestically and internationally to play darts. In the 1970s, Dixie and a friend set the Texas World Record for shooting a score of a million and one. Dixie made amazing desserts: her chocolate cakes, Russian black cakes, and strawberry pies will always be fondly remembered. Dixie’s family will always remember her as very loving and caring, generous, and sassy. Her family always came first.
Dixie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cindi and Scott Hass of Cleveland, MN; sister, Dawn Marie Perdew of Fort Worth, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Sue Clover of Spokane, WA; grandchildren, Michelle and Jason Schuette and great-grandchildren, Kylee, Payton, and Paige of Boerne, TX; grandchild, Eric Duckett and great-grandchildren, Evan, LeeAnn, and Max of Corpus Christie, TX; good friend, Mary Goldman; special friend, Whitey Skoog; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Pam Tofuri; son, Marvin Duckett; brothers, Donald, Dale, Denny, and David; and sisters, Dottie and Darlene.
