Virginia Ann Filler, age 92 of St. Peter passed away on November 4, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health System.
Service 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Funeral Home. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to American Heart Association.
Virginia, daughter of Gilbert and Thelma (Bird) Schmidt, was born on November 3, 1925 in Cleveland. She was one of eleven children in their family. Virginia attended school in Cleveland. She worked at ISJ Hospital, was an in-home caregiver, and did volunteer work. On March 8, 1943, she married Ervin Joseph Filler. They made their home on the family farm. Virginia loved camping, cooking, dancing, and treasured time with her family and feline friends.
She is survived by six children: James (Linda) Filler, Sandy Camp, Bonnie (Garry) Volk, Darla (Mike) Volk, Sherry Wilmes, and Tim (Cheryl) Filler; 22 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Roger (Andrea) Schmidt and Terry (Monica) Schmidt; and very special friends and staff at Ecumen Sand Prairie. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sons-in-law, three grandchildren, four sisters, and four brothers.
