Gordon H. Tate, age 80 of St. Peter, passed away at home Tuesday, June 20, 2017.
Visitation is 2:00-4:00pm Sunday, June 25, 2017 at St. Peter Funeral Home. The family prefers memorials to: Mayo Clinic Mankato Hospice, American Cancer Society or St. Peter Food Shelf.
Gordon Howard was born on April 8, 1937 in Mankato to Harvey and Effie (Borth) Tate. He was united in marriage to Joann Oglesby on March 10, 1955 in Mankato. He worked as a mason on an airbase in Minot, ND for 8.5 years before moving to St. Peter. He then owned and operated Tate Construction as well as a rental business and Tate Antiques. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening, feeding his fish, driving his Ford Model A, showing off his hand built cedar strip boat he named "Golden Years" and bringing fresh produce to the Food Shelf. He was a member of the St. Peter Jaycees, the Auto Restorers Car Club of Southern Minnesota.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years Joann; children: Kathy (Larry) Schnuck, Keith (Wendy), Jim (Jane), Judy (Chuck) Beinke, Barb (Todd) Jensen and Wanda; grandchildren: Adrian (Shelby), Paul, Molly (Mike), Jake, Jesse, Justin (Tessa), Vanessa (Phil), Myranda (Jon), Erik (Jess), Kasandra, Lucas and Allison (Jake); great grandchildren: Samantha, Treva, Henley, McKenzie, Keegan, Zoe, Giselle, Sunny, Emma, Michael and Claire; sisters: Betty Dale and Carol Lucier; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Lano and Bob; sisters: Myra and Delores; grandson Bryce; great grandson Zachary; and many aunts and uncles.
