Richard James Pehrson, age74 of St. Peter, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter. Visitation is 4:00 – 7:00pm Tuesday at the church with a prayer service at 6:00pm. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service Wednesday. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Richard James was born September 10, 1942 in St. Peter to Franklin W., Sr. and Kathryn (Sear) Pehrson. He attended grade school at District XL Lake Prairie and graduated from St. Peter High School in 1960. He married Nancy Benson on September 26, 1964 in Cleveland. After his marriage, he and Nancy resided on the family dairy farm with his dad. Most of his life he was a dairy farmer having Reg. Holsteins and he was very active in the dairy industry, breeding high quality Holstiens. He exhibited his prize winning cattle at many shows, county fairs, MN State Fair and national shows. His biggest accomplishment was raising an Ex 94 Bull. In 1991 he began a career in finance planning. He was able to take Nancy on Many wonderful trips around Europe and the U. S. He was active on many boards: Nicollet County Holstein, ADA, Nicollet County Fair for 35 years and was a 4-H Leader. He loved to fish for Walleye, hunt elk and deer in Colorado, and snowmobiling with his family and wonderful friends.
Left to remember Richard are his wife, Nancy of 52 years; children: Pat (Amy), Todd (Nancy), Wade (Sarah) and Mitzi (Ernie) Mendez; grandchildren: Luke, Jacob, Grace, Dane, Jackson, Marlee and Eddie; brothers: Fred (Pat), Wally (Laurie), Gary (Sally), Jerry and Mark (Debbie); sisters: Deanna (Harold) Hoffmeister, Mary (Scott) Kreykes, and Cathy Giefer; sister-in-law Geri Pehrson: numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many wonderful friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Chad in 2010, and brother Franklin in 2009.
