Estanislada “Dolly” Hernandez, 59, died on May 13, 2017 at Ecumen Sand Prairie Assisted Living in St. Peter, Minnesota. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Peter.
Dolly was born to Estanislado and Dominga (Sanchez) Hernandez on November 4, 1957 in San Antonio, Texas. She grew up in Chicago and moved to the state of Washington in her early 20’s where she eventually met her significant other of 30+ years Angel Angeles Piedra. Dolly then took her sons on a “vacation” to Minnesota in 1992 that never ended. She settled in St. James and later made her way to St. Peter where she lived the rest of her life. Dolly enjoyed completing puzzles, arts and crafts- especially making necklaces and rosaries, and playing the game 10,000. One of her most memorable tasks was being the referee while the family played the game of Monopoly which often lead to arguments and violence on occasion. This is what happens when you raise 5 boys. She did an amazing job preparing us for the real world. No matter how much we disagreed with her teachings we always found later that she was right. Something we are now seeing with our own children. She always said what was on her mind no matter what the situation and no matter where she was she always made friends. The thing I will miss most is her ability to make people laugh. She was quite the comedian and it was a sight to see when people would gather around her. Laughter can be heard roaring from the crowd as she told her stories.
Left to remember Dolly are her sons: Stanley Mendoza Hernandez, Gollo Nate Hernandez, Gilbert Hernandez, Angel Hernandez Piedra, and Jose Santos Hernandez Piedra; grandchildren: Kyle Bussiere, Alexander Drew Hernandez, Matthew Lewis Hernandez, Adrianna Rose Padgett, Thais Alexandra Fugon, Alondra Gissell Fugon, Angelina Marie Fast- Hernandez, Emily Marcela Fugon, Vanessa Fugon, Jasmine Marie Sally Rosales, Damani Mardellus Case-Allan, Camden Michael Williams, Kalina Monet Piedra, Kalani Marie Piedra, and Hailey Jo Prahl.
Dolly was preceded in death by her sisters, Sally Celia Rosales (Hernandez) and Romana Deleon (Hernandez).
