Raymond “Ray” Schwegman, age 83 of St. Peter, died Monday, January 16, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
Memorial service 11:00 am Friday, January 20th at the Church of St. Peter, St. Peter with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Marysburg Catholic Cemetery. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ray was born February 4, 1933 in Melrose MN to Clemens and Rose (Schulzetenburg) Schwegman. He graduated from Sauk Centre High School in 1951 and attended the Escoffier Culinary Arts School under direction of Fred Ullrick. He was united in marriage to Emily Clinton on October 14, 1966 at Marysburg Catholic Church. Ray owned, operated and managed the Holiday House in St. Peter for 30 years, and managed Stoney’s in Mankato for 10 years. He loved golf and watching the Masters, traveling to visit restaurants and was known for his friendliness and his sense of humor. Ray loved to be with family and adored his puppy Bailey. He was also a member of the Le Sueur Country Club and the Minneapolis Athletic Club.
Left to remember Ray are his wife, Emily; children: Molly (Scott) Martin, Mike (Jennifer), Amy and Katie; grandchildren: Ben, Emily and Jack Martin and John and Mary Schwegman; sisters: Sally O’Gara, Evie Botz and Lillian (Jack) Larson; sister-in-law Marilyn Schwegman and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sister Marina (Richard) Proell and brothers: Don and Clancy (Joan).
