Tom Henry Svendsen

Tom Henry Svendsen, 63, of St. Peter, and formerly of the Twin Cities, passed away Sunday, August 28th, 2016 at his home.

A visitation will take place from 4-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 1st at St. Peter Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 6:15.

Tom was born September 15, 1952 to Charles and Margie (Walsh) Svendsen in Brainerd, MN. He graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1970. He then attended St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN. Tom was blessed with two children, Charlie and Angela. Tom married Mary Patterson on May 5th, 2000 in Las Vegas. He was the owner of Lone Star BBQ and Grill in St. Peter, MN.

 Tom was proud to be an NCAA All-American Wrestler for St. John’s University, and kept his love of wrestling near to him throughout the remainder of his life. While Tom also enjoyed pheasant hunting, it was the time that he spent with his brother Gary that he truly valued. A loving family man, Tom also touched the lives of everyone he knew, and will be greatly missed.

Tom is survived by his loving wife Mary; son Charlie; daughter Angela, and her fiancé Chris; grandchildren, Christopher and Addison; mother Margie; siblings Gary (Sandy) Svendsen, and Patti Svendsen; brother-in-law Jean-Luc Panetta; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Tom is preceded in death by his father Charles; and sister, Linda.
