Helen M. Pope

Helen M. Pope, age 99 of St. Peter, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2016.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am Saturday, June 18th at the Church of the Nativity in Cleveland with visitation beginning at 9:00. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Le Center. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Helen was born on June 11, 1916 in Cleveland Township, Le Sueur County to Joseph and Rose (Rezac) Ballman. She graduated in 1933 from Cleveland High School as class Valedictorian. She married Willmar Pope on December 26, 1935 at St. Henry’s Catholic. She was homemaker and worked at Spors in LeCenter and also managed the St. Peter Ben Franklin for several years. Helen a member of the Church of the Nativity in Cleveland where she was active in CCW and teaching religion.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Richard (Sandy) of Winona, Carol (Tony) Frantz of Fairfax VA and Bill (Mary) of St. Peter; 9 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 1 great great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willmar in 1984.
