Mary Mathilda Thompson, age 84, of St. Peter, died Sunday, February 28, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato.
A Memorial Visitation will be held 3-5 p.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at St. Peter Funeral Home – Klein Chapel, with a 4:30 p.m. Sharing of Memories.
Mary was born May 14, 1931, in Oshawa Township, Nicollet County. She was the youngest of 10 children born to Joseph and Julia (Unsitiz) Schneider. She was a graduate of St. Peter High School. Mary was united in marriage to Arden Thompson on May 20, 1952, in St. Peter. She was employed with ADC Communications and also worked as a waitress at several restaurants. Mary was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Senior Center Card Club. In her younger years, Mary enjoyed swimming and fishing. She also enjoyed casino trips, spending time with her grandchildren, watching deer in their yard, and her dogs, especially “Molly”. She fulfilled a life-long dream of visiting Las Vegas and dancing with “Elvis”. Mary was a devoted caregiver for Arden for many years.
Mary is survived by her three children, Jean Sandland, Jeff (Patti) Thompson, and Jennifer (Mike) Bresch; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Daisy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arden in 2015; an infant brother and siblings, Joseph, Edward, William, Agnes, Catherine, Leona, Julia, and John.
