Wayne Maas

Wayne Maas, 77, of St Peter, died peacefully Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Mpls. with his family by his side.

Services 11:00 am Saturday, February 13, 2016 at St. Peter Funeral Home. Visitation is 4:00 – 700 Friday and 10:00 am Saturday at the funeral home.

Wayne was born May 24, 1938 to Lyndon and Norene (Krueger) Maas in Henderson, MN, where he attended school. He served in the Army and U.S. Army Reserve. He married Carol Derner on January 30, 1965. His working life was spent at Babcock Stone of Kasota and Mankato-Kasota Stone of Mankato.

In his younger days Wayne enjoyed boating, snowmobiling and woodworking. Later the Vikings, Twins, and Nascar races were favorite pastimes. He also enjoyed visiting with his family.

Wayne is survived by his wife Carol of St. Peter; two sons, Steven of Shakopee, and David of St. Peter. Siblings: Naomi Schultz of Gaylord, Gloria (Bill) Burg of St. Peter, Jeanette Heilman and Dayle (Betty) Maas, both of Kasota and Darwin (Joy) Maas of St. Peter; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Lyndon and Norene; sister Carole Wilde; and brother-in-laws Paul Heilman and Ruben Schultz.
