Gerald "Jerry" Meyer

Gerald “Jerry” Meyer, 88, of St. Peter, died Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Benedictine Living Community. Visitation will be held at the Church of St. Peter on Wednesday, December 30th at 2:00 pm, with a prayer service at 2:45. Burial at Calvary Cemetery in St. Peter after the service. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the Redmen Club.

Jerry was born June 23, 1927 to Clayton “Dewey” and Agnes (Walter) in St. Peter. He graduated from Cleveland High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy, stationed in California. He married Patricia Davis in 1946 and together had nine children; they later divorced. He attended Mankato Community College from 1947-1948. Jerry was an accountant for Hallett’s Construction Company for nearly 40 years, and later worked as the Gambling Book Manager for the Redmen Club.

Jerry was a member of the American Legion Post 37, Knights of Columbus, St. Peter Redmen Club, and had served on the Shoreland Country Club Board of Directors. He enjoyed playing cribbage, crossword puzzles, watching MN sports, brandy & cigars, and especially the time he shared with family.

Jerry is survived by children Sherry (Joe) Peterson, Judy (Randy) Gustafson, Dave (Deb) Meyer, Colleen (Doug) Ahrenstorff, Jeanne (Stu) Douglas, Mark (Sheri) Meyer, and Patrick Meyer; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister Arleen; and nieces.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Annie; son Steve; grandson Nicholas; and sister Marilyn.
