Dayton Hale, age 89 of Blaine and formerly Cleveland, passed peacefully at home with family on Thursday, December 17, 2015.
Funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the Church of Christ in Cleveland with Pastor John Kester officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the start of the service at the church. Burial will be at Kasota Hill Cemetery, Kasota. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
George Dayton was born on March 15, 1926 in Kasota Township to George William and Ila (Rogers) Hale. He graduated from LeSueur High School in 1944. He farmed in Le Sueur for 27 years and later worked for the US Postal service for over 25 years, retiring in 1991. Through the years, he was also employed at Green Giant, Moorman Feeds, and St. Peter Funeral Home. Dayton served on the Tyrone Township Board for 12 years; active member of the Church of Christ; 30+ year member of First Lutheran in St. Peter; Redmen active member and serving in local and state chairs; St. Peter Kiwanis as an active member and past president; NARFE (National Active and Retired Federal Employees); and Tomahawk secretary and treasurer on West Jefferson.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joann; Children: Cheryl (Rip) Davis, David (June), and Sheila Myers of Belle Plaine; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; step children: Connie, Carol, Jeffery, Janice, Joyce, Johnelle and their families; sisters Donna Polenski and Doris Edberg; sister-in-law Darlene Hale; many other relatives and friends.
