Donald “Don” Souers, age 84 of St. Peter died on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at his home.
Memorial visitation will be from 3:30 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at St. Peter Funeral Home – Klein Chapel.
Don was born on September 13, 1931 in Fargo ND to Lawrence and Neva (Townbridge) Souers. He was raised and schooled in Moorhead, MN and attended and played football at Moorhead State before being called to active duty in 1950. He married Nancy Jean Lee on September 20, 1951. They lived in Oslo, Owatonna, and moved to St. Peter in 1969. He was employed in agriculture related business though his career. He was a member at First Lutheran Church, The St. Peter Rotary, volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels, and did taxes for AARP for over 30 years. Don enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking in his shop, going to the lake cabin and his family.
Don is survived by his children: Steve (Mary) of Colo, IA, Rick (Mary Ann) of Owatonna, MN, Tammy (Mike) Thompson of Litchfield, MN, Marcia (Kevin) Wenner of St. Peter, Dave (Kate) of Franklin, TN; daughter-in-law, Lauri (Steve) Pfeiffer of Ramsey, MN; grandchildren, Michelle Garcia, Daniel Souers , Elizabeth Reischauer, Garrett Pfeiffer, Stephanie Dehan, Kelli McDonald, Mary Beth Calderala, Jen and Andrew Souers, Alyssa and Chris Thompson, Jennifer Peterson, Jeff Wenner, Molly Haack, Riley Wenner, Joe Wenner and Ben, Maggie, Will and Vivi Souers; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Glenn Souers; and sister, Nancy Envig.
He was preceded in death by his parents; eldest son, Michael; wife, Nancy; and sister, Judy Grim.
