James C. Eckberg, age 50 of rural St. Peter, died on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at River's Edge Hospital in St. Peter. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, June 5, 2015 at Scandian Grove Lutheran Church in Norseland. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at the church Thursday and also one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be at the Scandian Grove East Cemetery. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. James Christian was born on September 25, 1964 in Arlington, MN to Garfield and Marjorie (Briest) Eckberg. On October 27, 1984 he was united in marriage to Pamela Pankratz at Scandian Grove Lutheran Church in Norseland. They made their home in rural St. Peter and James was a Fed Ex Route Owner. He was a member of Scandian Grove Lutheran Church where he was on church council and was also on the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed John Deere tractors, fishing, and being with his grandchildren taking rides on the Kubota and the FedEx trucks. Left to remember James are his wife Pamela; daughters: Sarah (Fiancé Albert Reyes) of Nicollet and Heidi (Paul) Scheuer with grandchildren Braxton and Aubrey all of St. Peter; parents: Garfield and Marjorie Eckberg of Nicollet; siblings: Tom (Ann) of Gaylord and Paul (Connie) both of Gaylord, Peter (Tami) of Maple Grove and Ann Marie (Mark) Strange of Bloomington; Pamela's Parents: Joe and Donna Pankratz of St. Peter; brother-in-law Terry (Kelly) Pankratz of St. Peter; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Raymond and Hilda Eckberg and Donald and Lenora Briest; and aunt Marilyn Larson.
