Loren "Red" Dimmel, age 88 of St. Peter, died on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 6, 2015 at the Church of The St. Peter in St. Peter. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Thursday at the church with a Prayer Service at 4:30 pm and Rosary at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church Friday. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, St. Peter. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Loren Henry Dimmel was born on March 28, 1926 in Alma City, Waseca County, MN to Henry and Ida (Schroeder) Dimmel. He was educated in Alma City and then served in the US Army during WW II as a paratrooper. He married Lorraine French and they raised their family in St. Peter. He worked for the St. Peter Creamery until retirement. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, cards, fishing, square dancing, and gardening. He was active in the Church of St. Peter (Catholic) and Knights of Columbus. Survived by one son Robert and daughter in-law Hanne; two daughters: Patricia, Terri Brown and son in-law Richard; 3 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 12 step great grandchildren, 3 step great- great grandchildren, a very special companion, Joanne Stangler and her family of 2 children; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; one sister; Belva Brown. He was preceded in death by wife Lorraine Dimmel; 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
