Betty Lou Gerholz, age 90, of Minneapolis, died Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Walker Methodist Health Care Center. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, November 13, 2014, at the St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Peter, with Rev. Matthew Rauh officiating. Interment will be in Green Hill Cemetery in St. Peter. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the donor's choice. St. Peter Funeral Home - Klein Chapel handled the arrangements. Betty Lou was born on December 3, 1923, in Dickinson, ND. She was the daughter of Louis and Laura (Oukrup) Petska. Betty Lou was a graduate of Dickinson High School and attended Dickinson State University. She served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Following her discharge, Betty Lou completed her education at the University of Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Franklin Gerholz on September 14, 1950, in Dickinson, and they made their home in Minneapolis. She was employed as a Physical Therapist until 1961, when she became a homemaker for her family. Betty Lou was a member of the St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Minnesota Rose Society. She enjoyed league bowling, crocheting, and was a skilled calligrapher. Betty Lou is survived by her daughter and son-in-law; also cousins, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Franklin.
