Monica E. Sohm, age 84, died peacefully on June 23, 2013 at the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 28, 2013 at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Thursday at the St. Peter Funeral Home " Klein Chapel. Visitation will continue one hour before service at the church on Friday. Burial will be in St. Anne's Cemetery, Le Sueur.
Monica was born into the John & Clara Luskey Clan in Jesseland, Minnesota on May 18, 1929. Monica lived most of her life with painful rheumatoid arthritis, but she always put other people's needs first and made you feel special. She perfected helping your fellow neighbor and created the art of volunteerism in her family. Her joys in life were her family, flowers, coffee & cards with friends, sewing baby quilts, her "Irish" heritage, her daycare kids, and most of all, her 50+ year marriage to Al. She grew up in the Henderson area but lived most of her life in St. Peter and Cleveland raising the family with Al.
Monica is survived by her 5 children: Mike (Nancy), Peggy (Greg), Jane (Dave), Jean & Pat; ten grandchildren, Caleb, Josh, Daniel, Adam, Kelly, Kyle, Tara, Alex, Laura, and Hannah; six siblings, Rosemary Heimkes, Betty Drucker, John (Dorothy) Luskey, Joe (Judy) Luskey, Bill (Joyce) Luskey, and Jim Luskey; sister-in-law: Jan Luskey; good friends, Karen & Loren Johnson; and several nieces, nephews, cousins.
Monica was preceded in death by the "love of her life" and favorite dance partner, Elwin "Al" Sohm; granddaughter, Katie Sohm; son-in-law, Dave Vollmuth; and siblings, Kate Schauer, Mary Robinson, and Ken Luskey.
