Orville Willis Ulrich, age 88, of St. Peter, died Friday, November 8, 2013, at the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter.
Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at First Lutheran Church in St. Peter, with Rev. Alan Bray officiating. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Peter Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in St. Peter. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
Orville was born on August 2, 1925, in Sharon Township, Le Sueur County, to Walter and Ella (Dressel) Ulrich. He attended grades 1-8 at District 78 Country School in Le Sueur and Le Sueur High School. Orville served in the U.S. Army following WWII in Japan. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Dougherty on June 16, 1965, in St. Peter. Orville farmed in Sharon Township near Le Sueur and worked with his brother, Eugene at Ulrich Construction. He later was employed with Alumacraft in St. Peter. Orville was a member of First Lutheran Church in St. Peter and the VFW Post 950 in Mankato. In his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball with the Dresselville Sluggers. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and woodworking.
Orville is survived by his three children, Mike (Kari) Dougherty of St. Peter, Patty (Tom) Bittner of St. Peter, and Tim (Linda) Dougherty of St. Peter; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy in 2011; and brothers, Eugene and Melvin.
