Dr. Gene Robert Kind, age 82 of St. Peter, died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at his home.
Gene was born on November 30, 1931, in River Falls, WI, to George and Gladys (Swanson) Kind. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Veterinary School in 1955. On June 10, 1956 he married Naomi Ann Pilgrim. They settled in St. Peter, MN, and Gene worked for James Hanson at the Veterinary Clinic in St. Peter. He later purchased the clinic, owning and operating Kind Veterinary Clinic until retiring in 1998.
Gene was very active in the St. Peter community including: hospital board, bank boards, Boy Scouts, Rotary, Meals on Wheels, Trinity Lutheran Church, Resurrection Lutheran Church (Mankato), and more. He enjoyed solving world problems over coffee with his friends twice a week at the City Grille. He especially enjoyed being around family.
He is survived by wife, Naomi; children Steven (Debra), Karen, and Christopher (Pamela); grandchildren Maren and Abigail; siblings Allan (Elizabeth) and Georgeann (Wulf) Massell; and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at St. Peter Funeral Home " Klein Chapel. Service will be held at 11:30am on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Christ Chapel, Gustavus Adolphus College with Rev. Greg Lenz officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Blue Earth " Nicollet County Humane Society or the U of M Veterinary School.
