Nancy Souers

Nancy Souers, age 80 of St. Peter, died on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Pheasants Ridge in St. Peter, where she resided since 2010.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2012 at First Lutheran Church in St. Peter with Rev Don Holmstrom officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until the start of the service at the church. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed toward the Pheasants Ridge Memory Care.

Nancy Jean Leewas born January 15, 1932 to Gilbert and Sadie (Lake) Lee in Hibbing, MN. She was raised in Nashwauk, MN. Nancy graduated from Kindred High School in 1950 in Kindred, ND. She met Don Souers at college in Moorhead, MN. Nancy married Don on September 20, 1951. Together, they lived in Oslo, Owatonna, and St. Peter, MN. For years, Nancy worked as the lunch lady at North Elementary in St. Peter. She loved recipes, cooking, and catering events. She also enjoyed clipping coupons and articles and was an avid bargain shopper. Nancy loved time at their lake home in northern Minnesota. Last September, she celebrated 60 years of marriage to the love of her life, Don. She will always be remembered most dearly for being "Mom" and "Grandma Nancy".

Nancy is survived by her husband, Don of St. Peter; children, Steve (Mary) Souers of Colo, IA, Rick (Mary Ann) Souers of Owatonna, MN, Tammy (Mike) Thompson of Litchfield, MN, Marcia (Kevin) Wenner of St. Peter, Dave (Kate) Souers of Franklin, TN; daughter-in-law, Lauri (Steve) Pfeiffer of Ramsey, MN; grandchildren, Michelle Garcia, Daniel and Elizabeth Souers, Garrett and Kelli Pfeiffer, Stephanie Dehan, Mary Beth Calderala, Jen and Andrew Souers, Alyssa and Chris Thompson, Jennifer Peterson, Jeff, Molly, Riley, and Joe Wenner, Ben, Maggie, Will and Vivi Souers; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers, Don Byers and Ron Lee; sisters, Barb Thompson and Sandy Kaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; eldest son, Michael; and brother, John Byers.
