Dorothy Mae Ritz, age 84 of St. Peter, died on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at the River's Edge Hospital in St. Peter.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 30, 2012 at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter with Fr. Phil Schotzko officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, St. Peter. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm on Sunday, January 29th at the church with a prayer service at 6:30 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dorothy Mae was born on September 28, 1927 in Kelso Township, Sibley County to Theodore and Theresa (Modert) Pfarr. She attended Rush River Country School and graduated from Le Sueur High School. She married Donald Ritz in 1962 and they made their home in St. Peter. Dorothy was employed at Nicollet County Bank as a bookkeeper for several years before quitting to raise her boys. She later worked at Gustavus Adolphus College in the housekeeping department for 17 years before retiring. She also was a homemaker who loved cooking, baking, canning, entertaining family for the holidays. She also enjoyed exercise and fitness activities and had many fond memories of her childhood in the Rush River area.
She is survived by her husband Donald of St. Peter; Sons: CDR. Paul Ritz (Valerie) of St. Johns AZ and Steve Ritz of Chaska; Grandson: Benjamin Ritz of St. Johns AZ; and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and 4 brothers: Raymond, Sylvester, Earl and Harold.
