Adeline M Thisius

Adeline M. Thisius, 99 years old, of St. Peter, Minnesota, died on April 2, 2012 at the home of her daughter, Peggy Hill, in North Mankato, Minnesota, where she had been residing for the last several months.

Adeline was born in Wells, Minnesota on February 15, 1913, to John and Margaret (Kipp) Shultz. Her parents both died before she was 6 years old. Adeline and her younger sister Helen were brought up by her maternal grandparents, Bernard and Catherine Kipp. Adeline attended St. Casimirs Parochial School and graduated from Wells High School in 1931 and from Wells Teacher Training Department in 1932. She then taught country school (8 grades in one room) in Faribault County for six years. Adeline also did substitute teaching in St. Peter and Home Bound Teaching.

On June 16, 1938, Adeline married Kenneth Thisius of Wells at St. Johns Catholic Church in Mankato. In 1939 they moved to St. Peter and she has resided there ever since.

In 1953 Adeline started working at the St. Peter State Hospital, first in the Medical Records Office and later she was in charge of the Residents Bank. She was secretary of Local 614 for seven years. She retired from the State Hospital in 1978 after 24 " years. For the next ten years she was a part-time clerk at Brauns Department Store.

Adeline was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters and did volunteer work at the St. Peter Catholic Church Thrift Store for several years. She was an avid card player and belonged to several bridge clubs and also played Pfeffer and 500. She loved to read and crochet.

Adeline is survived by her son, Dennis (Estella) Thisius of Marysville, California, and her daughter, Peggy Hill of North Mankato, Minnesota; grandchildren and great grandchildren Laurie (Lanny) Lamb and Greg, Jesse, and Nick of Henderson, Nevada; Terri (Bruce) Pittman and Josh, Calli, Jessica, Caleb and Carissa of Hartselle, Alabama; Natalie (Thor) Teigum and Cara and Chris of Madelia, Minnesota; John Hager of Eagle Lake, Minnesota; Jim (Sadie) Duerr and Dahlton of Shakopee, Minnesota; Christy (Eddie) Powell and Samantha and Grace of Marysville, California; and Nicki Henning and Nathan and Greta of Benicia, California; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Adeline was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, in 1959; her sister Helen Olson in 2005; brother-in-law Ervin Olson in 1997; daughter-in-law Barbara Thisius in 1998; and son-in-law Bob Hill in 2008.

Memorial Mass will be at St. Peters Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 11:00am with visitation one hour before services. Burial will be at St. Casimirs Cemetery in Wells, Minnesota. St. Peter Funeral Home " Klein Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
