James M. Kruger, age 86 of St. Peter died on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the Benedictine Living community in St. Peter.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Peter. Burial will be at Greenhill Cemetery, St. Peter. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
James Morris was born on August 3, 1925 in St. Peter to Reuben and Velva (Binder) Kruger. The family moved to Plainview, MN where James graduated from high school in 1943. He then served in the United States Army during WWII in Europe. He returned to Plainview where he married Rita Purvis on December 11, 1951. They made their home in St. Peter and James worked as the head chef in the main kitchen at the St. Peter State Hospital; retiring in 1991 after 44 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports and gardening and his children and grandchildren's sports and activities.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife Rita; children: Jim (Nancy), Don (Lori Leiding) and Jane (Peter) Kennedy; grandchildren: Robin Kleimon, Maggie Satrom, Tina Kennedy and Colin Kennedy; great grandchildren: David and Lily Kleimon; siblings: Donna (Don) Austin, Jean (Bill) Kuchera and Dick (Madeline); and many other relatives.
He was preceded in death by a son, Tom and grandson, Andy.
