Charles "Chuck" Chouanard, age 54 of rural Kasota, died on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at his Charles Kenneth "Chuck" Chouanard, age 54 of rural Kasota, died on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at his home, following a 15 year battle with brain cancer, surrounded by family and friends.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter with Fr. Phil Schotzko officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, St. Peter. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:30 pm on Friday at the church with a prayer service at 7:30 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice, the Kasota Fire Department, or John Ireland Catholic School.
Chuck was born on September 4, 1957 in Mankato to Kenneth and Janice (Kaveney) Chouanard. He is a 1976 graduate of St. Peter High School. On September 24, 1983 he was united in marriage to Charlotte "Charley" Hanson at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Peter. Chuck was partners with Tim Kennedy in K & C Erectors for 10 years. He completed his Associate of Arts degree for an Electrician while living in Northeast Tennessee. Returning home, Chuck worked through the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) and was currently employed by Xcel Energy in the substation construction department. He was a member of the Church of St. Peter, Knights of Columbus, the Kasota Fire Department (Retired) and Pheasants Forever. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, taking pictures, vacations and being with family and friends.
Chuck is survived by his wife Charley; sons: Tyler and Andrey; mother: Janice Chouanard; father: Kenneth Chouanard; siblings: Cindy (Terry) Lynch, Ron (Jane), Jim (Nancy), Mike (special friend Crystal), Maureen (Mike) Gieseke, Dan (Gina) and Howard (Mary); mother in law: Joycelyn Hanson; brother and sister in law: Craig (Joan) Hanson and Roz (Jay) Schumann; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father in law Roger Hanson, brother in law Jeff Hanson and uncles: Wayne and Lewis "Bud" Kaveney.
He will be deeply missed. May he rest in peace.
