Daniel Gilsrud, hard working husband and loving father lost his one year and four month battle with colon cancer at his home in Kiester surrounded by his family. He was 50 years old.

Daniel was born on January 14, 1962 in St. Peter to Robert Gilsrud and Janet (Bonderson) Doerr. He attended St. Peter High School and after graduating worked for Davisco Foods in Le Sueur for 27 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, his daughter's sporting events and choir concerts, hunting, fishing, working on vehicles, and the outdoors.

Survivors include his wife, Shelia; daughters: Deanna and Stacy Gilsrud, Katie Johnstone and Heather Kaveney; mother, Janet Doerr; mother-in-law Margaret Deutsch; brother Michael (Marjory) Gilsrud; sisters: Elizabeth (Justin) Pugh and Sheila (Lonnie) Mcroy; brothers and sisters-in-law: Joe Klaseus, Georgia (Rand) Jackson, Darlene (Jerry) Morgan, Dennis (Betty) Klaseus, Duane Klaseus, Gladys (Alvin) Kline, Eddie Klaseus, Brenda (Gene) Duncan; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ervin Doerr, grandparents: Hilding and Francis Bonderson and George and Mary Gilsrud; and a sister, Lorrie Gilsrud.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Peter. Burial will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato. Visitation will be from 4:00 " 8:00 pm on Friday at St. Peter Funeral Home " Klein Chapel and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Daniel Gilsrud Benefit at Wells Federal Bank locations.
