Lawrence E. "Larry" Haugen, age 65 of St. Peter passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at River's Edge Hospital in St. Peter.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 3, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Peter with Rev. Charles Christensen officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-6 pm on Thursday, April 2nd at St. Peter Funeral Home " Klein Chapel and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Larry was born on June 11, 1943 in Devils Lake, ND to Ernest and Bernice Haugen. He attended high school in Parshall ND, graduating in 1961. Larry was united in marriage to Sharon Rodne in 1962. Larry was employed at Chambers of Commerce in Aberdeen SD, Worthington MN, and Austin MN and was currently the President and CEO of the St. Peter Chamber of Commerce.

Larry served 2 terms as the president of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce Executives, was a former member of the Police Commission in St. Peter, an ex-officio member of the St. Peter Development Corporation and was a member of the St. Peter Rotary Club.

Larry is survived by his wife, Sharon of St. Peter; sons: Michael of St. Peter, Scott (Ashley) of Nashville TN and Ryan of Plymouth MN; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Jim (Brenda), and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ken.

In lieu of flowers, the Larry E. Haugen Memorial Fund has been set up at the Nicollet County Bank in St. Peter to benefit Larry's favorite local events and organizations, such as: the St. Peter 4th of July Celebration and the St. Peter Ambulance Service. Also included are the American Diabetic Association and the American Heart Association.
