Carl R. Annexstad, age 87, of rural St. Peter passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Norseland Lutheran Church in Norseland with Rev Craig Ferkenstad officiating. Burial will be at the Norseland Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Monday, May 18, 2009 at Norseland Lutheran Church and will continue one hour prior to the service at church. St. Peter Funeral Home " Klein Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Carl was born on August 25, 1921 in Lake Prairie Township, Nicollet County to Gustav and Olga (Lokensgard) Annexstad. He attended rural grade school and is a graduate of Bethany Lutheran High School. He joined the Navy in 1943 in the officer training V-12 Program. During his training he attended Bethany College, Gustavus Adolphus College and graduated from midshipman school at Northwestern College as commissioned Ensign, Lt J. G. He was assigned to the Pacific command and served on a destroyer and an LST on the Pacific Island invasions of Okinawa and Iwo Jima. He also patrolled along the Korean and Chinese coasts. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
He was united in marriage to Lois Anthony on August 15, 1952. He farmed in Lake Prairie Township all his life.
Carl was a 4-H member and leader for rural youth, and participated in church by singing in the men's chorus. He also held various church offices. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, the Holstein Association, DHIA Association and many other farm and community organizations
Carl is survived by his wife Lois, children: Michael, Eric (Sarah) and Rolf (Jean) all of Norseland, Heidi (Erik) Peterson of Golden Valley and Kirsten of Minneapolis; grandchildren: Benjamin, Christian, and Simon Peterson and Emily, Leif and Matthias Annexstad; sisters: Clara Norell and Gudrun (David) Kenyon; brother Glenn (Hope); brother-in-law Willis (Rachel) Anthony; sister-in-law Evie (Earl) Nelson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: Maurice and Borghild
