Inzadele B. Dahleen, age 92 of St. Peter, died Friday, May 27, 2011 at Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter.
Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, June 13, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Peter. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. St. Peter Funeral Home-Klein Chapel assisted the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Benedictine Living Community of St. Peter.
Inzadele "Tootie" Dahleen was born October 7, 1918 in St. Peter, MN. She was the only child of Anna Marie "Mary" (Nerbovig) and Adolph Knott. Inzadele was nicknamed "Tootie" by her father when she was a young girl. Her parents managed the Konsbruck Hotel in St. Peter before she was born. She moved to Cleveland, MN at age 6 where her parents managed the telephone exchange. Upon graduation from high school in 1937, she attended Mankato Commercial College. In 1938, she became chief operator of the telephone exchange after her father's death. She met Robert C. Dahleen in 1941 and married on August 25, 1942 at Trinity Lutheran Church. She and Bob had 4 children and raised their family in St. Peter. Tootie loved her hometown of St. Peter. She delivered "Meals on Wheels" for 22 years and later was a volunteer for 5 years for the food shelf. In the 1960's, she was a host mother of an AFS student from Austria. Tootie enjoyed bridge club in her younger years and neighborhood coffee klatches. She and Bob also attended many functions and dances for the Osman Shrine. They loved to socialize and host dinner parties. They also traveled to California, Spain, and Mexico several times.
Tootie is survived by her children Karna (Fritz) Schafer of Hailey, ID, Bob Jr. (Thea) Dahleen of Aitkin, MN, Martha (Neil) Elmouchi of Oak Park, CA, and Julie (Brian) Dear of Burnsville, MN; grandchildren: Per (Laura) Dahleen, Leif (Rayce) Dahleen, and Sarah and Michael Dear; and great-grandsons: Milo and Otto Dahleen.
Tootie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dahleen in Dec. 2000.
