Janice A. Zimmerman, age 86 of St. Peter, died unexpectedly on July 14, 2011 her home in St. Peter.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Peter with Rev. Matthew Rauh officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Concord Cemetery, Concord, MN. Memorials may be directed toward St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Janice Angeline was born on November 13, 1924 in Concord (Dodge County) MN to Erick and Marjorie (Rions) Krig. She graduated from Rochester John Marshall High School in 1942 and then attended classes at the University of Minnesota for dental assisting/dentures. On June 22, 1944 she was united in marriage to Lowell Zimmerman in Rochester. Before marriage, Janice had several bookkeeping positions and after moving to St. Peter with Lowell worked 18 years for Dr. R.C. Dahleen and later did bookkeeping for Lager's Inc. for about 10 years.
They retired to their lake home on Lake Ida in Alexandria and wintered in Harlingen TX for more than 20 years before she returned to St. Peter after Lowell's death. Her circle of friends were a part of the many organizations that she belonged to, including: the Alexandria Garden Club (of which she was president for many years), couples golf groups, church organizations, VFW Auxiliary and a bridge group.
She is survived by her daughter: Sue (Tim) Connor of St. Peter; daughter-in-law: Cheryl Zimmerman of St. Peter; grandchildren: Chris (Dawn) Connor of Denver, Matt Zimmerman of St. Peter, Kelley (Jeff) Stangler of Bloomington, Adam (Amber) Zimmerman of St. Peter and Katie (Jeremy) Spurgin of St. Peter; 5 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Barbara Krig of Minnetonka; nephews: Paul Krig and David Krig; nieces Pat Ahrens, Betsy Allen and Cindy Uran; many Zimmerman nieces and nephews, and many grand nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Lowell in 2006, son William in June; brothers: Kenneth and Bobby Krig; sister-in-law Dorothy Krig; in-laws: Wilmer and Mary Zimmerman, Orville and Em Zimmerman, Beverly Hart and Anita Zimmerman.
