Ervin Joseph Filler, age 90 of St. Peter, loving husband and father, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2011.
Ervin was born in Oshawa Township, Nicollet County on November 18, 1920 to Henry and Winifred (Gau) Filler. He was united in marriage to Virginia Ann Schmidt on March 8, 1943. They made their home on the family farm where six children were born. Ervin enjoyed farming, spending time with family, going to dances and listening to old-time music.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Virginia; six children: Jim (Linda), Sandy (Brian) Camp, Bonnie(Garry) Volk, Darla (Mike) Volk, Sherry (Mark Smith) Wilmes, and Tim (Cheryl); 22 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two sisters: Ida Mae Bennett and Lorraine (Gerald) Lorge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lorne Sayers, sons-in-law Greg Domas and Mark Wilmes; granddaughter Kristine (Domas) Carlson; and twin great granddaughters.
Private family services will be held. A public celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 22, 2011 from 2 to 5pm at the Johnson Hall Nicollet County Fair Grounds, 400 Union Street, St. Peter. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
