Alice M. Hawbaker, age 77 of St. Peter went to eternal peace on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter.
Alice was born on January 22, 1934 in Henry County, Iowa to Guy M. and Wilma L. (Seberg) Eubank. She was employed as the city clerk for several years in Pontiac, IL and later was a receptionist for a number of years in Tucson, AZ. She was also a volunteer docent at the Swedish Heritage Museum in Swedesburg, IA. Alice spent the last few years in St. Peter, close to her son. She was very talented and creative with crafts and making greeting cards.
Alice's family and friends meant the world to her. Those grateful for having shared in her life are her children: Sandy (Bruce) Tunze of Tucson AZ and Joel Hawbaker of St. Peter; 9 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mary Boal of Mt. Pleasant IA and Norma Rodgers of Swedesburg IA; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Rand and 2 daughters: Beth and Joan.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the Finley Chapel United Methodist Church in rural Wayland IA. Memorials can be made to the Benedictine Living Community, Eagle Wing in St. Peter. St. Peter Funeral home is assisting the family with arrangements.
