Ione Rusinko, age 91, recently of St. Peter, died Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter.
Ione graduated from the Swedish Hospital School of Nursing and served as a United States Army Nurse during WWII. After returning to Minnesota, she worked as a registered nurse first at Minneapolis' Swedish Hospital, and then for many years in the Emergency Room at Hennepin County General Hospital, retiring to become a fulltime wife, mother, grandmother, and volunteer at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Ione is survived by daughters, Mary Jo Rusinko (Bob Doetsch) of Bemidji, Michele Rusinko (Bob Weisenfeld) of St. Peter; son, Michael (Mary) Rusinko of Eden Prairie; eight grandchildren; brother, Lyle (Mary Lou) Ruh of Farmington; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Rusinko.
A memorial service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 4100 Lyndale Ave S., Minneapolis, on December 31, 2011.
