Martha "Marty" Braunger, age 76 of St. Peter died on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at her home.
Memorial mass will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter with Fr. Phil Schotzko officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4:00 " 7:30 pm on Friday, January 13th at the church with a prayer service at 7:30 pm. St. Peter Funeral Home " Klein chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Marty was born on April 29, 1935 in Owatonna to Joseph and Adeline (Wesley) Dushek. She graduated from Owatonna High School in 1953 and then attended Mankato State, graduating in 1957 with a degree in Home Economics and Art. She later received her Master's Degree as well. She was united in marriage to Francis "Brownie" Braunger in Owatonna in 1957. Marty began her teaching career in Nicollet before stopping to raise her family. She later worked as a paraprofessional at John Ireland School in St. Peter and then for the Minnesota School Board Association, retiring in 1998. Marty was a member of the Church of St. Peter and enjoyed crossword puzzles, the arts, bridge club, games, arts and crafts, camping, and travel. Most of all she enjoyed family; attending all of her children's and grandchildren's activities when possible.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband of 54 years, Fran; children: Bill (Kim) of St. Peter, Michael of Falls Church VA, and Kristan (Brian) Pfarr of Le Sueur; four grandchildren: Kendra and Christian Braunger and Katie and Hank Pfarr; siblings: Irene Steffensmeier, Ray (Jan) Dushek, and Gene Dushek; in-laws: Anna Walter, Rita Steffensmeier, Rosie Senger and Florence Kerkhoff; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
