Longtime St. Peter resident Lloyd E. Seitzer, 91, died on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter with Fr. Phil Schotzko officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, St. Peter. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Wednesday at the church with a 6:30pm prayer service, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials preferred to the Church of St. Peter: John Ireland School, American Cancer Society, and the Alzheimer's Association. St. Peter Funeral is assisting the family with arrangements.

Lloyd was born on November 22, 1918 in St. Peter to Edward and Hazel (Swagler) Seitzer. He attended John Ireland and St. Peter Schools, graduating in 1936. He married Betty Ruth Fields on September 2, 1946 at St. Mary's Church. St. Peter. They farmed in Oshawa Township until 1981 when they moved to St. Peter. Lloyd also sold New York Life Insurance, was a Pioneer Hybrid Seed dealer, and was on the Nicollet County Bank Farm Advisory Board. He was a member of St. Mary's and St. Peter's Catholic Churches where he was a Knight of Columbus; serving as the recording secretary. He was also a the member of the State and National Holstein Association, the Nicollet County DHIA, Nicollet County Farm Bureau, an Oshawa 4H leader. He was on the Nicollet County Fair Board for 25 years and on the St. Peter School District Board of Education for 6 years. Lloyd and Betty enjoyed dancing, traveling and playing cards.

Lloyd is survived by one daughter: Jan (Mike) Leiding of Mankato; five sons: Larry of Mankato, Tom (Debra) of Le Sueur, Jerry (Carol) of St. Peter, Brian of Mankato, and Merlin (Brenda) of St. Peter; 11 grandchildren; one great grandchild; siblings: Howard (Virginia), Jean (Mike) Osborne and Mary (Bill) Price; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty in 2005, an infant son, John, his parents, one sister and grandson, Brady Leiding.
