Kathryn Ann Schaus, 88, of St. Peter passed away Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010 at ISJ Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Feb. 12 at 11 a.m. at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter with Fr. Phil Schotzko officiating. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery following the mass. Visitation will be held at the Church of St. Peter on Thursday Feb. 11 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30. Visitation will continue on Friday one hour prior to the funeral mass. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Kathryn was born to Alphonse and Anna (Germscheid) Muggli on Dec. 24, 1921 in St. Henry Minnesota. She attended a one room country school and later graduated from McKinley High School in Le Center, MN. She married Mark J. Schaus on June 7, 1947 at St. Henry's Catholic Church in St. Henry. In her early years, Kathryn taught at a country school in Le Sueur County. She stayed at home to raise her children and later worked as a reading aide at Central School in St. Peter. She also was the bookkeeper at Mark and Jerry's Clothing Store which her husband co-owned. Kathryn aged in place successfully in her lifetime home in St. Peter. She enjoyed volunteering at her church and the Benedictine Center. Her lifetime passions include baseball, football, and playing cards with family and friends.
Kathryn is survived by her children: Vicki Carter of Richardson Texas, Linda Gish of St. Peter, Mary (Robert) Korman of Le Center, Jay (Kris) Schaus of St. Peter, and Julie (Steve) Hansen of Rochester; grandchildren: Jake Carter, Arnie (Jen) Gish, Katie Gish, Abby Korman, Nicole Korman, Lindsay (Jeremy) Knutson, Kyle Slipy, Emily Schaus, and Leo, Louis, Lucy, and Josie Hansen; great-grandchildren: Payton Lange and Tyler, Gideon, and Abby Grace Gish; and many nieces and nephews.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband Mark, sisters: Amanda Barnett, Rosella Tresmer, Margaret Sullivan and Irene Sullivan and one brother John Muggli.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Kathryn may be made to the Church of St. Peter or a charity of choice.
