Died Feb. 19 in St. Peter, MN. Born to Clarence A. and Edna Pell Wettergren, Sept. 1, 1921, Traverse Twp, MN at the Wettergren farm, one mile east of Governor John Johnson's birthplace. Preceded in death by beloved wife Mary Renee, his parents, brothers William Wettergren and C.E. "Bud" Wettergren, and son-in-law Brad Clark. Survived by daughters Wendy Larson (Ward), Deborah Clark (Brad), Jan Bredeson (Thomas), Robin Bauer (David), and son Robert Wettergren (Celine), 13 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, sisters Beverly Cook and Anita Carter (LeRoy), nieces and nephews, many friends.
Graduated from high school in 1938. Active in baseball, was also a cheerleader, and gymnast.
Attended Gustavus Adolphus College. Active in gymnastics, swimming, cheerleading, and baseball. In the 1940s played semi-pro baseball with Mankato in the Southern Minny League, and for St. James in the Western League, the fastest baseball leagues in the state (60 years later he would toss the ceremonial first pitch at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis.)
Earned airplane pilot's license at age 21.
Married Mary Renee Terry in 1947. Was especially proud of their marriage of almost 60 years. Bob and Renee managed Wettergren Dairy for over 30 years, buying the dairy in 1955 from Clarence and Edna, and selling it to Cloverleaf in 1973.
After life in the dairy business, Bob became manager of the St. Peter Chamber of Commerce for 20 years retiring in 1993. Hosted various cable television shows, radio shows, wrote columns on local business history in St. Peter Herald. Active in Masonic Lodge over 60 years, Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion, Nicollet County Historical Society, Shriners, Lions, and many organizations too numerous to mention. Received many awards and recognitions. After life at the Chamber, he continued serving on several committees and activity in organizations. Was a registered state athletic official for football and baseball for over 30 years. Author of A Little Bit of Heaven in St. Peter.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Church of the Holy Communion Episcopal Church in St. Peter with Rev. Thomas Harries officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 6:00 on Friday, February 26 at St. Peter Funeral Home with a Masonic Service at 6:00pm.
