Mark H. Seitzer, age 82, of St. Peter, MN, died on Wednesday, February 24th, 2010 at Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter, MN.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 26th at 11:00am at the Church of St. Peter, in St. Peter, with Fr. Peter Nosbush officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemeter in St. Peter. Visitation from 9:00 to 11:00am at the church. Memorials preferred to Benedictine Living Community or the Church of St. Peter. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
He was born June 25th, 1927 to Henry B. Seitzer and Kathryn Boyd Seitzer at the Covell Hospital in St. Peter, MN. He was baptized, received first communion, and was confirmed at St Peter's Catholic Church, where he was a lifelong member. He attended eight years at John Ireland School and four years at St. Peter High School, where he graduated in 1945.
In September of 1945, he was drafted into the US Army and served in the Medical Corp at Fort Snelling and Fort Sam Houston in Texas until discharged in May 1947.
In September of 1947, he enrolled at the College of St. Thomas and graduated in 1951. In 1952 he returned to St. Peter, where he worked with his father at the Seitzer Imp. Co. until March of 1979. He also worked at NAPA Auto Parts and at St. Peter Motor Parts, H.B. Seitzer and Co. Ford, and at St. Peter Ford. He is survived by his sister, Marlyn Miller, of Mankato, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Elizabeth Babcock in January 1978, Margie Shepherd in March 2007, and one brother, Richard, in December 1998, and his parents.
Membership included the 3rd and 4th degree Knights of Columbus, the American Legion and the Redman Club. He enjoyed baseball, football, basketball, and traveling.
