Dorothy Louise Schlenker, age 68, of St. Peter, MN, died Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at her home surrounded by family.
Memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2010 at First Lutheran Church in St. Peter, with visitation one hour prior to the service. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dorothy Schlenker was born June 27, 1941 in Wishek, ND to Ernest and Margaret (Siewert) Moeckel. She graduated from Wishek High School and furthered her education at Wartberg College and Concordia College. She married Daniel Schlenker on June 17, 1961 in Wishek, ND. Dorothy was a teacher for several years before owning the Hardware Hank in St. Peter, MN with her husband, Dan. She was affectionately known as the "paint lady" during her years at the hardware store. She recently enjoyed tutoring students in her home. She loved crafting, sewing, cooking, quilting, doll-making, and was a very talented seamstress.
She is survived by her husband, Dan; son, David (Theresa) Schlenker; daughter, Debra (Tony) Kammerlander;; brothers, Stan Moeckel of Wishek, ND, Larry (Geri) Moeckel of Scottsdale, AZ, Curtis (Wendy) Moeckel of Ceylon; sisters, Inez (Jerry) Galloway of Grants Pass, OR, Charlene (Jerry) Knudson, of Maple Grove, MN; four grandchildren, Daniel, Meghan, Brittany, Nicole; and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Margaret Moeckel; sister, Marilyn Johnk; brothers, Wallace and Virold Moeckel.
