Willard C Johnson, age 86 of St. Peter, died on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Peter with Pastor David Naumann officiating. Burial will be at Norseland Lutheran Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Memorials preferred to St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Willard Carlyle Johnson was born on August 18, 1923 in Lake Prairie Township to Mahlon and Mathilda (Solmonson) Johnson. He was schooled in the St. Peter area, and is a graduate of St. Peter High School. Willard served in the US Army Air Force and was stationed in Japan and the Philippines during and after WWII. On July 8, 1951, he was united in marriage to Lorna Skramstad at Norseland Lutheran Church. They made their home in St. Peter where Willard ran a filling station before working for the Nicollet County Planning and Zoning Office, from which he retired. He also was a part time marker and monument salesman. Willard was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church and the St. Peter American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed having coffee with friends and spending time with his family.

Willard is survived by 3 daughters: Lorie (George) Halvorson of Sausalito CA, Kelli Johnson and Kari Johnson both of St. Paul; and grandson Derek Schaible of Sausalito CA.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorna in 1990, brothers Eugene and Maynard and sister Donna.
