Dayton R. Martinson, age 86, of St. Peter, MN died Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter, MN.
Funeral service will be held at a 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 3, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Peter with Rev. Eric Natwick officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, May 2 at the St. Peter Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery.
Dayton Royal was born August 15, 1923 in Grace Township in Chippewa County, MN to Elmer J. and Mathilda Martinson. He graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College with a degree in Social Work. He was Director of Human Services for Nicollet County, served as County Commissioner, and was on the Board of Directors for the Estate Apartments. He was an avid golfer and an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Dayton is survived by wife of 33 years, Donna; son, David (Laurie) Martinson; grandsons, Luke and Zach. He is also survived by Donna's children Pat (Tom) McMullen and Bob (Luann) Messerli and their families; and sister-in-law, Bea Martinson. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Floyd; sister, Fern; wife, Signe; and Donna's son, David.
