John E. Palmquist, age 82 of Kasota, passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 in Walnut Creek, California.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 pm on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church in Kasota with Chris Conlin officiating. Burial will be at Kasota Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Wednesday at St. Peter Funeral Home " Klein Chapel and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church Thursday.
John was born on June 5, 1927 in Kasota to Edwin and Helen (Warrant) Palmquist. He graduated in 1945 from Kasota High School. On February 12, 1950 he was united in marriage to Audrey Hale at First Presbyterian Church in Kasota. He worked in Civil Service for the US Navy until his retirement. John was a member of the Kasota Historical Society, Kasota Hill Cemetery Board, and was a member and helped at First Presbyterian Church in Kasota. He enjoyed woodworking, cars and dune buggies and was an avid reader in his later years.
John is survived: two daughters: Deborah Wilson and her husband Henry of San Dimas CA and Sheila Hastings and husband Rick of Benicia CA; Granddaughter Christine Hastings and two great grandchildren: Alex and Sarah, all of Benicia; brothers-in-law: Steven Hale and Gordon Hale and wife Betty of Kasota;nephews Joe Hale of Kasota and Nathan Hale; cousins: Pat Palmquist and her children Teri Hansen, Mike Palmquist and Krista Palmquist.
He was preceded in death by his wife Audrey on March 31, 2010; his parents and David Palmquist.
