Margaret L. Schmidt, age 93 of St. Peter, MN, and retired State Hospital administrative assistant, died Tuesday morning, June 1, 2010, at Grandview Good Samaritan Society St. Peter.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the St. Peter Catholic Church in St. Peter. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Margaret was born February 24, 1917 to Lewis and Margaret (Cowan) McRoberts in Morris, MN. Margaret attended the Morris Public School System, graduating in 1935. She stayed in the Morris area, where she met Roy A. Schmidt, whom she married on April 18, 1942. They lived in Colorado for a time before returning to Minnesota. They lived in Morris, then moved to Crookston, MN, and finally to St. Peter on Oct. 1, 1955. Margaret worked mainly as a secretary for the Nicollet County Extension Office in the St. Peter area, and finally at the St. Peter State Hospital as an administrative assistant in the business office.
Margaret is survived by one son, Robert (Bette) of Williamsburg, IA; sister, Florence Murphy of Morris; brother, James (Janice) McRoberts of Morris; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, three brothers and their spouses, and two grandsons.
