James B. Klein, age 88 of Kasota passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2010 at the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter surrounded by his loving wife of 62 years and his children.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter with Fr. Phil Schotzko officiating. Burial will be in Kasota Hill Cemetery, Kasota. Visitation will be from 4:00 -7:00 pm on Wednesday at the church with a Rosary Service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday. St. Peter Funeral Home " Klein chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
James was born on January 8, 1922 in Blue Earth County to Joseph and Laura (Bennett) Klein and attended District 100 Country School. On September 22, 1947, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Wistrom at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato. Jim owned and operated Jim Klein Garage in Kasota for many years as well as a volunteer on the Kasota Fire Department for 29 years. He was also a member of St. Mary's and the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter. Jim enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, motorcycles, woodworking, gardening, camping, birds and especially spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Jim received special care from the staff at the Benedictine Living Community and the St. Peter Area Hospice. Memorials can be directed to the Benedictine Living Community, the St. Peter Area Hospice or the Church of St. Peter.
Jim is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Kasota; children: David (Eva) of Kasota, Patricia Flowers of Kasota, Linda Rupe of Waterville, Mary (Brian) Gunderson of St. Peter, Joanne (James) Randolph of St. Peter and Lisa (Richard) Koble of North Mankato; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister Ann Vernon of Owatonna; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Joseph, Milton, and Charles; sisters: Mary, Laura, and Lydia; and son-in-law Arno Flowers.
