Charles E. Sprague, age 81 of St. Peter, died Monday, August 2, 2010 at his home.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 6, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Peter with Rev. Charles Christensen officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at Glenwood Cemetery in Mankato. Memorials may be made to ISJ Hospice or to an organization of the donor's choice. St. Peter Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Charles Emil was born October 19, 1928 to Charlie and Emily (Hedine) Sprague in New Ulm. He graduated from Winthrop High School. On June 7, 1953, Charles was united in marriage to Corrine Olson. He worked with the State Highway Department for most of his life until he retired in 1990. He was well known as the "Popcorn Man". Charles was a member of the Eagles for 47 years and a former member of the Elks. He was also a volunteer for the St. Peter Food Co-op for 15 years, the St. Peter State Hospital for 12 years at the volunteer council, and many other organizations. Charles cherished spending time with his grandkids and the trips they would take together. He loved being at the lake where he lived with his wife, Corrine, for 22 years. Charles also enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, and traveling all over the United States.
Charles is survived by his wife Corrine; two children: Deborah (Wally) Wolfe and John (Lisa) Sprague; and three grandchildren: Melissa and Michelle Wolfe and David Sprague.
