Joan Moses, of St. Peter, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband Gary, daughter Julie, son Jay, and many good friends.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Alan Bray officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 6, 2010 at St. Peter Funeral Home. Burial will be held at a later date.
Joan was born in Kasson, MN on July 28, 1933 to Harold andf Elsie Saettre. Her childhood was filled with fun on the family farm with her sister, Janet Anderson of Byron and brother, Jay McDonald (deceased.) Joan attended Miss Woods Academy at Macalester College earning a teaching certificate in elementary education. She taught 2nd grade at Kenyon Elementary and Kasota Elementary for two years after her marriage to Duane Moses of Mankato. Joan had two children, Julie Moses of Alexandria, VA and Jay Moses of Kasota. She married Gary Lacy of St. Peter on December 27, 2000. Joan was a retail regular in St. Peter. She was the long-time proprietor of Shari's Closet with partner Jackie Wettergren. After retirement from Shari's Closet, Joan worked at Swedish Kontur. Joan was known for her baking skills, especially her sweet rolls. She was a creative individual, collecting antiques, decorating, and sewing in addition to baking. Joan was a dedicated pet lover who is also survived by her cats, Mandy and Lily. She was well-loved by many friends and family.
