Lucille E. Halbert, age 94 of St. Peter, died on Monday, September 27, 2010 at the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 4, 2010 at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter with Fr. George Grafsky officiating. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:30 pm on Sunday, October 3rd at St. Peter Funeral Home " Klein Chapel with a prayer service at 6:30 pm. The visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Lucille was born on September 6, 1916 to Albert L. and Emma (Young) Miller in Lake Prairie Township. She attended rural District 40 School and graduated from St. Peter High School in 1935. She was united in marriage to Wilbur "Bill" T. Halbert in St. Peter on April 23, 1946.They farmed in Lake Prairie Township until the death of Bill in June 1963. She and her children then moved to St. Peter in the fall of 1963. Lucille worked for Nicollet County Nursing Service for 18 years and was also a volunteer at the thrift store. She was a member of St. Mary's Church where she was on the funeral lunch committee and later a member of the Church of St. Peter. Lucille loved taking her grandkids fishing at the millpond, walking to stores or parks and rummage sales. She was a farmer at heart and enjoyed taking care of her flowers.
Lucille is survived by daughters: Karen (Ron) Griffin of Florida and Mary (Jerald) Hertzke of Iowa; sons: Donald (Geri) and Raymond, both of Minnesota; 6 grandchildren; brothers: Charles "Butler" of Mankato, Kenneth (Helen) of Mankato and Jim (Margaret) of St. Peter; sisters-in-law Marie and Leona both of St. Peter.
She was preceded in death by her husband; grandson: Danniel Weyrough; parents; brothers: Bernard "Bud", Andrew, Robert and Karl; and sisters: Evelyn Wedin, Coletta Mielke and Irene Schoen.
