Mary Louise Peterson Ashby Moline, age 89, died Monday, December 13th after a sudden illness at River's Edge Hospital in St. Peter, MN.
Visitation will be held at the Scandian Grove Lutheran Church from 1-3 PM on Thursday, December 16th followed by a committal service at 3pm in the church.
Mary was born September 4, 1921 in Los Angeles, CA to Everett and Minnie Peterson. She married Robert M. Ashby on June 15th, 1941 in Yuma, Arizona. They lived in Los Angeles and Long Beach, CA. They moved to Chariton, IA in 1944. They had 3 children William, Janie and Michael. Robert died in a motor vehicle accident in 1964. Mary worked as a librarian at the Long Beach library, Chariton Library and at Woolworth's Department Store in Chariton. In 1968, she moved to Mankato, MN after accepting a promotion to Assistant Manager at the Mankato Woolworth's store. On April 12th, 1980, she married Carl Moline of Traverse, MN. She retired from Woolworth's and they resided at the family farm in Traverse until moving to Realife Cooperative in St. Peter, MN in 1992.
Mary is survived by 2 sons, William of Clermont, IA and Michael of Ankeny, IA; 3 granddaughters, Kim (Steve) Woods of Marion, IA, Alecia Ashby of Van Nuys, CA, and Amy Ashby of Ankeny, IA; 3 great-grandchildren, Melanie, Benjamin, and Tyler; and sister-in-law Gert (Duane) Hodnefeld of Lakefield, MN. She is also survived by the Joe and Donna Pankratz family who treated her and husband Carl as their own.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Robert Ashby and Carl Moline; daughter, Janie; 3 sisters; 1 brother; 1 grandson, Robert Ashby; and 2 great-grandsons, Brian Woods and Aiden Ashby-English.
