Leona Olive Loken, age 79 of St. Peter, died on Friday, February 11, 2011, at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato, MN.

Leona was born on March 28, 1931, in Montevideo, MN, to Olaf and Lilia (Armstrong) Lund and grew up in rural Chippewa County. She attended District 43 public school and graduated from Maynard High School in 1949. After graduating from St. Cloud State Teachers College in 1951, she was an elementary teacher in Bingham Lake, Lynd, and Storden. On June 28, 1953, she was united in marriage to Curtis A. Loken of Windom, at Buffalo Lake Lutheran Church of rural DeGraff. They made their home in Windom, Blooming Prairie, Lanesboro, and St. Peter. Following her husband's retirement from the Federal Land Bank, she helped him run his own farm appraisal business. Leona was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Peter. She loved nature, her knitting group, sewing, flower gardening, playing Scrabble, and watching the MN Twins. Leona's specialty was baking angel food cakes for her friends.

Leona is survived by her loving family: husband, Curtis, of St. Peter; daughters MariJane (Lee) Dummer of Crystal and Kristen Loken of Minnetonka; granddaughter Laura Dummer of Crystal; siblings Arlys (Don) Jolstad of White Bear Township, Owen (Marlene) Lund of Bird Island, Sharon (Don) Thorkelson of Great Falls, MT, LeAnn (Gene) Zimmerman of Delano, and DeAnn Hetrick of Veedersburg, IN; many nieces and nephews; and dear neighbors and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Francis.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 14, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 511 S 5th St, in St. Peter with Pastor Eric Natwick officiating. Visitation will be from 2-5 PM on Sunday, February 13 at St. Peter Funeral Home"Klein Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be at Greenhill Cemetery in St. Peter.
